Value 9/10
Like the original, the Sky Rocket joins the Thunder line. This one looks like even more of a house shot killer.  I usually have value flipped lower for pearls but I can’t say that based on the ball reaction we saw this time.

Specs
The Booster™ Core is new offering at an RG of 2.54 and diff of .048 for a 15 pound piece. The Storm Sky Rocket comes wrapped in the R2S Pearl coverstock.

Overall 9/10

If you recall I mentioned the original Storm Rocket to fit somewhere between Hy-Road and Reign in terms of ball reaction.  The Sky Rocket pulls it a little closer to the Reign in terms of ball reaction.  While I personally found the Reign to be very skid/flip, I saw so much success around me on THS with it.  I think the Sky Rocket will likely wind up there as well, a THS killer.  It is easily cleaner than the Sky Rocket with a more defined and seemingly reliable move off the dry.  Just like the Reign, you can trust this ball to send it away and see a very defined move back to the pocket.  Obviously, depending on your bowling style you will see variations to this.  Most matched rev and speed bowlers will probably see this reaction.  I think it will match that style quite well.  Speed dominant bowlers will likely find slightly less reaction to the dry with more risk to blow through the breakpoint given how clean it is while low speed or rev dominant bowlers will probably see pretty big movement.

For Elysia, the Storm Sky Rocket was amazing.  I thought she had a great look with the Rocket previously, but she truly loves the Sky Rocket.  Elysia found it more usable and you can easily see why in the video.  The shape and movement were consistent and strong.

Highlights
The Storm Sky Rocket will be another hit for Storm.  They continue to fire away in the Thunder Line with success after success.  I guess it helps to have a ball like the Hy-Road forever in the lineup.  Either way, the Sky Rocket adds another good piece on the medium line with very strong bang for the buck.

  1. I dont know much about pin placement and all that drilling stuff but my ball is drilled like the one above except the fingers are on tope of the yellow dot. My Sky Rocket does just that, it Rockets right past the head pin and reacts about like my plastic ball. I absolutely hate this ball, biggest waste of money ever.
    Do not buy this ball!!!

    1. Hi Robert. Sorry you had bad luck with the Sky Rocket. It might not be strong enough for you on the condition you bowl on. Have a discussion with your pro shop. They may be able to change the surface or make a different suggestion to make it more effective. Good luck!
