900 Global doesn’t disappoint with this shiny asym and you know how we love us some shiny asym.

Overall
I introduced the 900 Global Altered Reality in the making video. Do we expect bad shiny asyms from the Storm family? No. But with so many shiny asyms in the family, how does this distinguish itself. That’s more important in my mind. Another key question will be how it compares to the Zen which I consider one of the most versatile balls out there currently. Immediately I can tell you the Altered Reality fills a hole in the 900 Global lineup for the mid defined shape and I really like this one. The Reality was a great Strong Defined piece and of course we get the same core with a shiny pearl cover for the Altered. You can see the pretty easy length and good midlane roll with strong backend. I had a lot of room with this ball. I had a very good look up blasting it through the second arrow. Perfect look between 2nd and 3rd arrow. I keep moving in and it continues to look good through the 3rd arrow. The color pattern lets you really see what the core is doing throughout the transition. You can see the length as the core doesn’t start transitioning until about 40 feet. Then as it sees friction it transitions in the next 10-15 feet. The cube shaped core shows that standup character with the heavy forward roll after transition. It has what I consider a reliable just a bit more defined than smooth. I’m going to do a comparison of it with the No Rules Pearl. I believe they will be fairly close when I scuff the surface of the Altered Reality a bit. Their specs are so close to each other and both cars are cubish. If it does turn out to be similar, it wind up finally replacing the No Rules Pearl in the long term mid defined part of the bag.
Here are a few shots throwing it 2-handed. It kind of shows off the bit of smoothness while still being able to make a big move down lane. It’s definitely clean and late so just be aware this is a pretty late responsive ball. This just gives you a bit of a visual how the ball might respond with a rev dominant style.
I’m feeling that 900 Global Altered Reality can make a lot of bags in the Mid Defined slot. I think I would like to knock the shine off and allow it to read a bit sooner than after the pattern ends as I feel that’s really the Mid Late balls job. But with the big driving core, this should be a solid option for anyone looking to fill that spot in the bag.
Welcome back. Today we have Bryan testing the 900 Global Altered Reality. We already know this is that shiny asym formula that Sean and I typically find pretty useful. For Bryan, these balls tend to be hit or miss. When he has a clean cover, he wants the core to make a strong move. Sometimes the big cores are too forward and give him no hit. Sometimes the small cores go but don’t hit. They tend to be a bit specialty for his bag. Lo and behold, the Altered Reality was neither of those things. It’s the first ball in a while that was clean yes, but more importantly actually made a defined move. This gave him hit and carry. It gave him room. Finally it gave him confidence. He could move in and actually swing the ball. He could modify his speed and get the ball to hook up and carry. This all bodes well for him especially on a house shot where typically getting too far into the wet part of the wet/dry means a very weak reaction. This is one of the best matchups of a shiny asym that Bryan has had for a long time.
I tried to test this 2-handed but basically it’s not worth sharing here as it simply requires a different condition. For a Rev dominant game, you will need a lot more oil than what is served up on our house shot.
