So I was recently in the Bay area. Whenever I travel, I like to stop in – and sometimes bowl at – the local bowling centers. A quick google search turned up Sea Bowl in Pacifica, CA. Norm Duke was recently there to meet and greet a Prodigy competition winner so an article was posted on Storm’s website. I thought to myself, why not stop in. I made sure there was a pro shop at the center as well as I always like to stop in.
Well, for those of you who have never been out to this location, I’ve got to admit it was fantastic! OK, to be fair, it is literally across the street from Rockaway Beach. The scenery is just gorgeous! I’ve never been, nor do I think I will ever be at a center with such a phenomenal location.
Enough about the view, what about bowling. In this regard, I didn’t get a chance to bowl there, but I’ve got to give a huge shout out to the guys at Seaside Pro Shop. I had the pleasure of meeting Raymond and Art. You can tell these guys are dedicated. They were very helpful and seem to have a very good relationship with their customers. We chatted quite a bit and it really was great to talk to them.
It was very nice to see a shop try so hard to please their customers. They are sincere and as friendly as can be. Art and his team have owned the shop since August. Rod Ross, the current head coach at USBC, ITRC, owned a shop that was previously located at Sea Bowl. Apparently, there was a period of time when there was no pro shop operating out of this center. Nevertheless, Art and Seaside Pro Shop seem to be doing everything they can to run a successful shop. They have a very solid inventory and you can see many balls on the shelf from many different manufacturers.
I wish them all the best and I’ll be sure to stop by next time I’m in town!
